Is that new information? I thought we already knew to crouch down or, ideally, squat if trapped in a thunderstorm.

Fascinating links, thank you.

I thought I was pretty savvy about being out in thunderstorms - run for the low ground, find a hedgerow with no tall trees - but even I had absorbed some misconceptions. We were always taught to untack horses if caught in a thunderstorm because the metal would "attract" lightning. Wrong!

I'd heard the story about the art on the radio, but it was fun to see a photo--thank you!

And I liked the description of lightning ~ripping nitrogen from the air ~ and then making it available to the soil. NICE.

Learned something about lightning safety!

Man that art is really something. When I think about the texts we have--what, the Epic of Gilgamesh is like four thousand years old, writing itself like five-six thousand--and then this art! more than fifty thousand years old! Weird to think about how recent my preferred medium is, considered against human history... I don't have anything intelligent to say on the subject, just, damn
