Ups and downs.

This year Eaglet is on one of their school district’s FIRST LEGO League teams, with 9 other 4th and 5th graders from a couple schools, competing in robotics challenges against other teams of 9-14 year olds. This weekend, they were one of the top teams in the regional tournament and qualified for the state-wide tournament in January. Their ’bots did good.

That said, Eaglet didn’t get to be at the tournament, as they were down with a cold, which muted their enthusiasm somewhat. They are excited to be going to state, though, almost as much as they are to be back in school today in time for the team’s pizza party.

Also this weekend, I finished a first draft translation of the last ghost poem of the collection I’ve been working through. Finally.

My enthusiasm for this was somewhat muted by being laid off last week. (My “position was eliminated” as they refocus the company as part of the general tech sector contraction.)

Ups and downs.
