A few days after the Russian invasion, Ukrainian Andriy Khlyvnyuk of the band BoomBox posted on Instagram a video of him singing acapella “Red Viburnum in the Meadow,” a patriotic folk song of WWI, in Kyiv’s silent Sofiyskaya Square. Pink Floyd has recorded backing instrumentation to his vocals, and released it as their first new song since 1994: Hey Hey Rise Up (feat. Andriy Khlyvnyuk). I hadn't realized that there's more than one mix of the song--the one I met first is with/by The Kiffness, a month earlier and more of an encouraging anthem. Good to know of Pink Floyd's, too (gosh, 1994).
