And where I was born and bred is also called Rochester, only that's the original one! :o)

There are many cities and towns in, especially, the eastern U.S. named after English places. Sometimes, as in York, they had the grace to add a New in front to distinguish. (Then when whites settled the west, they named after eastern places, thus the confusion of (at least) two Portlands.)
