Sometimes, to be sure I'm paying attention to a particularly important statement, TBD takes my face in both hands and turns my head so we're eye to eye before saying it. Usually things like, after a couple requests, "Juice!" ("Yes, I'm getting you some") but other statements that have gotten this treatment include "I like truck[s]" and, this morning, "Turtle[s] {garble} toes!" where the garbled word was probably something like "have."

For context: we were looking at the turtle pages of a DK book about shells, and TBD'd just noticed and pointed to a foot with claws labeled. "Toes!" *grabs my face* "Turtle[s] {garble} toes!"

And big turtles (or rather, beeg turtles) are better than little ones, I am told.

Perhaps one has to be a bit bigger in order to find small things cute.... (Every child different, etc., but I do recall that my child didn't find infants cognitively interesting till she was three or so and able to realize that she and infants didn't think in similar ways (anymore).)

There's is an awareness of cuteness, especially with baby animals, but I think there's a coolness factor with big things -- big trucks are better than little ones, after all. In fact, I'm starting to wonder (especially after this morning, when TDB said the cat has a "big tail") whether "big" is taking on connotations of approval -- sort of a synonym for "cool."
