There is a museum in Grytviken, South George Island with a replica of the James Caird, the lifeboat from the Endurance that Shackleton sailed 800 miles with a crew of six.

Another timelapse of supercells forming over Kansas. It's creepy enough when thunderstorms rotate (because tonadoes) but some of these have counter-rotating layers. Bonus: Texas version. (via/via)

I don't think it's the most remote museum on earth, though. Arguably, Scott's hut (NZAHT) and-or Discovery Hut are, if by remote we mean "difficult of access." Discovery Hut is I think slightly easier of access as it is closer to McMurdo and Scott; Scott's hut is currently undergoing conservation.

It's very good, though, great natural history exhibits especially, and gets its surprisingly large number of visitors (like Port Lockroy) from the cruise industry.

This webcam (http://www.sgisland.gs/index.php/%28h%29South_Georgia_Webcam2) is not mounted at the museum. I don't think they have one.

The centenary of the sailing of Endurance is upon us.
