The comic by Dr Carmella rubbed me the wrong way, though. I am a prototypical introvert in the "expend energy socially, recharge alone" sense, so I understand where it is coming from, but it strikes me as really boorish and tone-deaf to describe simple human interaction as "annoying (read: wasteful." And it definitely is simple human interaction being described that way -- apparently anything more than a "hello" and polite deference is over the line. Unless of course the introvert authorizes further interaction after deeming their interlocutor worthy of meeting their needs. So in summary, introverts are, like, a cross between a startled gazelle and a celebrity who has his handlers go through the restaurant before he arrives ordering everyone not to make eye contact.

As Introverts 101 comics go, I found Grant Snider's much more pleasant and less likely to make people think that introverts are just self-important jerks.

A fair cop -- that one is the most problematic. The hamsterball metaphor doesn't do it for me at all, though the drawing of an extrovert reaching in to grab the hissing introvert makes me smile every time. And, yeah, interactions aren't annoying, just draining -- in a millidrain rather than suck-one-dry-at-one go sort of way.
