Higher economic inequality = lower economic mobility.
Oh crap, it's spread. More. (via)
U.S. Supreme Court rules that works can be taken out of the public domain and re-copyrighted. The context of the decision is when the works are copyrighted elsewhere under the Berne Convention, but the principle is worded entirely generally. Ow. (via)

If you're a villain, take note: Sealed evil [in a can] should not be released unless you expect it to betray you. Also, it should be kept away from children under 3 as it has small parts and they may choke on it.

Date: 22 January 2012 05:32 pm (UTC)I was just reading about MDR-TB last night, in an article from 1999 about improper TB treatment in Russian prisons.
Supposedly a third of the world's population has latent TB (not yet infectious). People who are diagnosed with latent TB find it difficult to stick to a lengthy treatment regimen when they feel fine and the side-effects can be scary. I assume that adds to the bacteria's opportunities to develop resistance to the first line of drugs.
