"Hanging in the Lounge", subtitled "bongos & tangos, with a touch of soul" -- a mix of hip beats and chilling grooves for your lounging needs, with or without a martini. Dig it.
I actually listen to a lot of this stuff, courtesy of Soma FM (particularly the Secret Agent and Groove Salad channels), Aurgasm, and Comfort Stand, but I'd never gotten around to pulling together a mix. Cesaria Evora didn't make the final cut because she's more at home in a café than a groovy lounge, and most Brazilian songs I have are aimed at the dance floor or pop radio.
Playlist links to music videos, where I could find them. The Pan-Am-a-licious one for "Love Beat" is especially recommended. Please comment if you download.

Date: 22 April 2009 11:04 pm (UTC)So: I wanted to respond to "Elsewhere" by saying:
It skinks down, through crack-held
thorn-scrub, to hunt ants. In the now,
the age of glare-parched day is old.
That’s how I miss you when you go.
Lovely :-)
(also loved "shoaled sodium lamplight")
