- The post title says it all: Lady Murasaki Bot Recites Tale of Genji. Especially weird to come across while reading Shonagon's Pillow Book.
- This collection of early movie reviews from the 1890s is fascinating. Not only were movie-makers struggling to come up with a visual language for the new medium, so were critics struggling for ways to talk about it.
- Sometimes, a fake film of Edgar Allen Poe reading "The Raven" is close enough to the real thing to be worth watching. (via)
- While "Lulz and the /b/tards" might sound like a good band name, it'd certainly put me off. (via)
- Here's a wonderful (and yet simple) visualization of Bach's famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor, which is especially useful for tracking all the fugual voices. (via)

Date: 18 August 2008 12:30 am (UTC)I love the idea of the Bot recitation, complete with appropriate gestures. I can't wait until that's the standard for audio. *g*
The music visualization was very cool. I felt like I learned something about how the music was put together that I wouldn't have in another context. It also reminded me of the video game Ian and Keith have that displays a form of musical notation that you can either play or sing to, complete with feedback on your performance.
The lightening was gone *sob*. That was somethign I really wanted to see.
I cannot believe the amount of effort that must have gone into the smashing of the cream egg. Just incredible.

But fortunately he's pretty dry-eyed about the whole thing. I *think* (... I think...) he can see the silliness of a lot of the behavior. I think he mainly likes it for some of the memes and things...
