A mylar balloon from last month's birthday party is still hanging around. Today it reached neutral buoyancy and has floated from room to room at eye level, on the furnace currents, and startling one as one putters. Right now, it's circling about in the convection of my body heat. Creepy and cool.
So is knowing that tyrannosaurs look pretty in pink but moose most definitely do not. Robert Lang's scorpion, OTOH, is just plain cool:

(
jamiam, this is what you saw me working on.) Yes, that's eight legs, two claws with pincers, a jointed tail, and mouth parts -- all from one square sheet of paper, no cuts. Origami designers have been doing some amazing things, these past two decades.
Have a good Year's Long Night, you all. Unless, of course, it's Year's Long Day.

Date: 23 December 2007 03:36 am (UTC)Now I want to do something suicidal, like try the model with so-called elephant's hide paper. The sort where you fold then press under a stack of books for a couple hours, before going to the next one.
