A praying mantis or a wasp -- something that eats spiders.

Then it becomes a trap to lure some lazy spider into a ready-made web.

I do have a both a praying mantis and a wasp model -- I don't know whether the paper's up to the detail-work on the former (it has a nasty difficult inverse sink). The latter's a possibility.

I picked a box because it is translucent paper and probably would show all of its folds. AND you could keep toy spiders in it.

Translucent paper, to me, screams jellyfish. My son has a fabulous popup book with a jellyfish, and I was wondering if it could be done. I have no idea.

Am trying to picture the patterns on the paper of the top one, and failing massively. What was it like?

Also, that is an amazingly cute tyrannosaur.

The lines were mostly parallel to the side, rather than diagonal -- largely green with a wide pink band in the middle plus pink bits on the parallel edges. One corner had touches of gold, so I used for the head, and looks like most of it is exposed, to very cool effect.

I've another piece with more diagonal banding, which I suspect will become a Tyrannosaur. Unless I can think of something better.

Nope -- not my designs. I credited the creator in the image gallery -- in these cases, they're all by John Montroll, from various books.

I can't design. My brain just doesn't manipulate 3-D abstractions well enough, to know that if I do this, it'll come out like that. Fortunately there's enough really good designers out there publishing really cool stuff that I'm not in any danger of getting bored.
