The last six tracks I listened to by random shuffle were:
  1. Patty Griffin, "No Bad News"
  2. Anonymous 4, "Verbum supernum prodiens"
  3. Martinibomb, "The Love God"
  4. Satie, "Sonatine bureaucratique"
  5. Pachelbel, Suite in G Major (Musica Antiqua Koln)
  6. U2, "New Year's Day"
Sometimes I feel dreadfully mainstream and bland. Sometimes I feel preciously eclectic. Sometimes I can't tell the difference.

What's in your playlist right now?

That is a fun mix!
Did you buy any European or Icelandic on your trip?
Might as well enjoy your music in more languages.

I know what you mean--I feel exactly the same back-and-forth about what I listen to.

I need more classical on my playlist...

1. Within Temptation: Bittersweet
2. U2: With or Without You
3. Mike Oldfield: Moonlight Shadow
4. Kanye West: Stronger
5. Pentangle: Sovay
6. Dolly Parton: Silver Dagger

My acquaintance with them is still new, but I really like them. I gather they're from the 1960s and helped revive genuine folk tunes in England. I have two ballads (by which I mean actual centuries-old ballads, not slow, drippy modern songs) that they sing, "Sovay" and "Cruel Sister," and I love both. I've heard some other stuff by them on Last fm, and it has been good two.

You can hear them sing "Cruel Sister" here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QCVucxouew&feature=RecentlyWatched&page=1&t=t&f=b

But, you have to wait through all the chat and tuning up at the beginning.

I ended up ordering that Ray Lynch CD you recommended, btw--used, as you did. (My logic for doing so was complicated and idiosyncratic flawless. Hope it arrives soon.

I'm having a mellow music week, because the current WIP demands it. Cds I have on shuffle right now are Crosby, Stills and Nash, 3 different Simon and Garfunkel cds and a best of The Moody Blues cd. Maybe it's a hippie child week looking at that list.

Last week this book demanded all Celtic music. The week before it was Patty Griffin, Vienna Teng and Cowboy Junkies, with a dash of Coldplay.

The music in my playlist is like Mid-west weather. Wait five minutes and it will change.
