I'm starting to settle into the new commute. The walk is about three minutes longer than before, and nearly as pleasant -- there may be no path along a wash, but at least I cross a wash, after cutting across a pocket park. The route is, however, much more constrained -- unless I'm willing to follow a busy boulevard, there's pretty much exactly one way to go, as opposed to the 24 branching paths to the old offices. The bike ride is somewhat longer heading in, but because of the vagaries of traffic signage, twice as long coming back. Which is more an amusement than a problem.

Working in a cubical is freaking me out, though.

Maybe you should wallpaper it?

Probably not with Dilbert cartoons.

Consider hanging a mirror over your work area (desk? table? shoemaker's bench? whatever they're issuing) so people cannot approach you from behind you unseen. It is not as good as a door though. A ba-gua mirror may (or may not) be most appropriate.

It's the noise in cubes that gets me. Headphones, sure, but they have to come off if one uses the phone.
