The persistence of spring
27 November 2006 05:02 pmWhen hiking at 8000ft altitude at the end of November in the northern hemisphere, one does not expect to see flowers. Possibly the tail end of turning leaves, though even that was a surprise. But yes, we saw 16 different types of blossoms, from late-season mullein and thistle and red trumpet flowers to tiny white ground violets.
