Quoth the meme, post exactly one sentence from each of your current work(s) in progress. In roughly the order I intend to work on them:

Melissa Patterson wanted to kiss the girls, dammit. (Second Thoughts)

The boar came out of nowhere, so they knew
By this and other signs—its angry eyes,
The damage targeted to rooting through
The just-ripe crops, but most of all its size—
From whom it came.
("Myrmidons in Calydon")

It was a quarter past June, and Sunny's friends sat hot and bored on the steps to the soccer field. (untitled YA)

The king had tried—by Zeus, how hard he'd tried!—
To raise her as the son he couldn't get,
But training couldn't cut what gender tied.
("Atalanta's Races")

"I think you're saying," he muttered as he looked down at her blue spiked hair, "that you need a girlfriend." (untitled YA)

One year, on September 23rd, a man named John Barrett took the woman he was courting for a picnic lunch on the island in Lake Pennescoba, Maine. (The Next Year On the Same Day)

"All aboard!" our bosun cries,
"We leave upon the tide today!"
(untitled alphabet book)

The thing was, until Fortune listed him as one of America's Top 10 Bachelor Entrepreneurs, Paul Bunyan hadn't thought of himself as unsettled. ("Paul Bunyan and the Singles Bar")

The whistle at the mill was screeching noon
when a new woman left the divine realms
to step into a street of old Luzonne
and stagger, reborn senses overwhelmed
by butcher's offal, sunlight through gold elms,
the whistle, dogs, a squeaky wagon's wobbles,
    and, underfoot, uneven, slippery cobbles.
(Death and Happenstance, the Dear Gods No remix)

I love the lines, but once again I see that I cheated (some of mine posted several lines, but I just call that Artistic License).

What I'm getting from this is I really should no longer call myself a writer, or even a sometimes writer. I have absolutely no works in progress (unless you count partly written tests and quizzes for use at school).
