Snaffled from [livejournal.com profile] janni and many other places:

Invent a memory of me and post it in the comments. It can be anything you want, so long as it's something that's never happened. Then, of course, post this to your journal and see what people would like to remember of you, only the universe failed to cooperate in making it happen so they had to make it up instead.

Well, of course what I remember is when we first met, the year we were both working at Scott-Amundsen, and how even when we realized, after a few months, that there might be something like a relationship there, we did our best to keep it quiet, because after all, an Antarctic station really is a very small community, and it really wouldn't have been fair to everyone else wintering over at the South Pole that year. But once we got back to Christchurch, when the year was up, we figured it was okay to let everyone know--only it turned out no one was surprised after all.

We spent a lovely month in New Zealand after that. And unlike our coworkers at the Pole, our families really were surprised when we came back home married!

I will never forget that time that you, [livejournal.com profile] janni and I were hiking through the desert and came across that downed spaceship. Of course, the rest of the adventure has been classified for reasons of National Security; in fact, I've probably said too much just by admitting it happened at all. ::glances nervously over shoulder for signs of the Men In Black::

Hmmm... I think it would have to be the poetry slam at the Vancouver Worldcon last year -- you were having such problems keeping a straight face while that gothy kid read the most gawdawful rhymes. You came so damn close to beating Haldeman, and in the bar afterwards he said you should have won....

Gosh, I guess my favorite memory of you would be that time you and Janni and Ya Ching and I chased that awful creature (you know the one) through the desert, finally cornering it in the abandoned mine.

Of course, once we had it cornered and angry (very, very angry) we had to figure out what to do with it. Janni suggested creature barbeque, you suggested burying it alive, Ya Ching wanted to leave it alone, as it was very likely the last of its kind (definately a face only a mother could love, and even *she* would get the dry-heaves if she looked too long) and I wanted to take it home and love it and name it Fred...

Janni's idea seemed to be the most logical, so we went with that one. Both Ya Ching and I pouted for a while, but we got over it.

Once we got the napalm (Walmart, who knew?) we poured it into the mine, dropped a match, and set back to roast some marshmallows. Ah, those were the days....
