Fashionably early
1 October 2003 08:15 amI recently read an offhand comment to the effect that 19th century art is coming back into favor. This startled me because, liking several schools of it myself, I hadn't really realized it was out of favor. But then, my art sense is not as developed as my poetic sense, and the Pre-Raphaelite movements has undoubtedly distorted my sense of things.
I mention this to explain why I was jazzed to find a site specializing in 19th century (and early 20th century) painting. Dippy name, yes, but balancing that, they also have the requisite random painting feature necessary for a truly good art site.
For what it's worth, the reason I've been a little thin on the ground here is that I've finally found an online poetry workshop I fit into.
