Sweet potato sweet potato. They allowed that it was okay for taro to taste sweet, but have never been induced to try actual yam.

The way many people cook sweet potato offends me, heh (too much added sweetening and the flavors kind of fight), but I like savory preps of yam--slice and saute nagaimo, that kind of thing. Hope they consider a wider range eventually!

I want to do more with yams (good glycemic index) but the nearest reliable source (that I’ve found) is a half-hour drive and labels things in Cantonese.

Let it be known that if you try to get rid of sweet potatoes by tossing them out the window they will merely sprout and then, several months later, your bemused adult authority figure will pull them up out of the ground, now much increased in number, and serve them to you.

(The kids were not as amused by their failure as I was, I can tell you!)
