Achievement unlocked: Yahtzee.*

It’s been a while since I’ve posted one of these, but it’s been a while since Eaglet has had one so dramatic — as in obsessed with it, importuning us for a game several times a day.

On the topic of Eaglet, they we built their new gaming desktop this weekend (I had to help with the stiffer screws) and successfully turned it on, to the point that things light up … but the BIOS never POSTs and a diagnostic LED claims a problem with the CPU. I eventually (through much trolling through forums) traced the likely problem to the motherboard being older enough than the CPU that it needs a BIOS update—and the only way to do that for this mobo model is to swap in an older CPU. So the rig’s now at our friendly local computer repair shop for three to five business days (the admissions tech agreed on the probable diagnosis). Eaglet is disappoint at the delay, but glad it’s not something expensive, like a broken GPU.


* Not to be confused with the very similar Yatzy, or for that matter Yacht, which it’s a variation on.
