It’s been a while since we’d measured Eaglet’s height, so we were startled to realize they’re now 4'6" (137cm). Somehow, being a full four and a half feet makes them seem more like an actual Big Kid than their turning 10.

Several studies out there about how larger children get functionally shorter childhoods, because everyone you interact with thinks you're eight when you're five, sort of thing.

Date: 19 May 2023 11:32 pm (UTC)I feel bad for her classmate, who hit 5'7 in fifth grade and has never been allowed to settle into medium-kidness (not only because of height; she was also tasked young with watching a younger sib, between neglectful adults, which hasn't been good for either kid--but as of fifth grade, everyone else also failed to treat this classmate like a kid, sigh).
