In other kid news, school offers a string orchestra class starting with their grade, and they surprised us by being enthusiastically interested. After trying both violin and cello at the instrument rental center, they settled on the latter. We also picked up a basic instructional book, and since this weekend, they’ve been diving in unprompted and doing exercises.

Go, Eaglet.

Comparisons have been made between the book’s opening lessons (which strings are what note, how to read music, et cet) to video games that start with easy levels that teach you how to play it. This is not wrong.

It's a good thing! :o)

I wanted to learn fiddle at school but then they realised I was very left handed and that was the end of that, which makes it funny that I can get a tune out of most things you blow, pluck or squeeze.........
