So amid everything else, a small kvell: Eaglet’s soccer team finished their spring season undefeated (4-0-2). They’re now playing U10, in a different youth league, with a couple classmates on their team and coaches they know and like.
It’s interesting the differences the change in leagues made—previously, they played with one associated with a Division I franchise out of Salt Lake City, while this one is with our own city’s Division III organization (which fields a pro men’s and an amateur women’s teams). The focus has been more on teamwork than individual skills, compared to practices of more competitive teams we’ve observed. Some of it is the kids are older, of course, but they do seem to be having a lot more fun out there, both in practice and at matches. (Winning helps with the fun, of course.)
Meanwhile, from a couple months ago, another clip of Eaglet’s lion dance troupe — this is just the teens, though.
