It’s been a while since I shared some links, hasn’t it. In my defence, I’ve been camping in mountainous places and getting up close and personal with wild turkeys, though that’s only some of the time. Not really an excuse. Still, here’s some good ones I’ve collected:

My neighborhood has ...feral turkeys. Not sure how wild one may call them when they've been around for a few years now.

That's pretty cool. Do they hang around because people feed them (either by accident or purpose)?

These were definitely wild turkeys, descended from never-domesticated ancestors. They're relatively common in the mountains throughout Arizona.

They seem to be able to find enough worms, beetles, etc. by foraging. Lots of trees and shrubs around here, including in street medians semi-maintained by local authorities (sometimes it's half weeds but it's not bare dirt). I haven't seen anyone feed them--it's not like the squirrels on campus.... I think my locals may've come down from the hills.

It was indeed. Eaglet has declared that they will no longer eat turkey meat -- they have met and taken care of and enjoyed the company of chickens, but those did not impress in the same way.
