That quarantine meme:
1. Are you an Essential Worker?
I was unemployed when that term became relevant … so, no.
2. How many drinks have you had since the quarantine started?
Four* during the seder and one each shabbat. I've lost count of the shabbats though, so you'll have to do the math.
3. If you have kids... Are they driving you nuts?
It got better once the trampoline arrived. The Eaglet's still mostly stir-crazy though.
4. What new hobby have you taken up during this?
Nothing new, but I've managed to kick up learning Chinese a notch.
5. How many grocery runs have you done?
Once a week to Trader Joe's and our CSA pickup, plus one every week or two to the corner Korean grocery.
6. What are you spending your stimulus check on?
Bills and essentials. Just like the unemployment checks.
7. Do you have any special occasions that you will miss during this quarantine?
Eaglet's birthday in two weeks will obviously not be celebrated with a party, which they are bummed about. The China trip planned for next month bums me more. Both are tentatively rescheduled for autumn.
8. Are you keeping your housework done?
Mostly. To be honest, though, if not for the spur of Passover cleaning, there would be a even more dust bunnies in the corners.
9. What movie have you watched during this quarantine?
For myself, instead of over Eaglet's shoulder? Nada.
10. What are you streaming with?
I'm not, but Eaglet is mainlining Netflix when they're not playing on Roblox.
11. 9 months from now is there any chance of you having a baby?
*eyes our ages* Nope.
12. What's your go-to quarantine meal?
Mine: Stir-fry something with at least one CSA veg, with rice or quinoa or noodles as the starch. Janni's: Chicken soup (made from a few legs) with noodles.
14. Has your internet gone out on you during this time?
The sporadic one-minute outages are less frequent, but still happen. Whoop -- there was one now, as I was typing.
15. What month do you predict this all ends?
I don't: I don't know enough to and I don't think there's any one milestone that will mark an "end". I hope that restrictions on gatherings end before school resumes in August, so Eaglet can be social again and get instruction from professional educators. I hope that travel to China can resume by October. I hope that jobs and workplaces open up again by Real Soon Now.
16. First thing you’re gonna do when you get off quarantine?
Escort Eaglet to as many playdates as we can schedule.
17. Where do you wish you were right now?
At work.
18. What free-from-quarantine activity are you missing the most?
Sending Eaglet off to school.
19. Have you run out of toilet paper and hand sanitizer?
Did get down to our last roll of TP two weeks ago, before scoring some.
20. Do you have enough food to last a month?
Probably not.
* Okay, five -- I emptied Elijah's cup too.
