I loved the Japanese book. Also I wonder about the attribution link at metafilter--the link to the other scholar arrives at a "sorry"** page, whereas Nick Kapur is a bona fide scholar in the field. ... ETA: Well, Wakanomori tells me he thinks Nick Kapur **did** just lift it from some other scholar, and he (Waka) was all upset about it, so, maybe that metafilter thing was right.Not that that means he's immune to stealing things without proper credit, but he does post the original book, with all identifying information, here, so ...

Hmm. The link at the MF comment was to a twitter thread complaining about Kapur reposting without attribution several of his descriptions nearly word-for-word, including some typos. Kapur also added to some of those descriptions, as well as some were all his. Kapur eventually showed up to try and defend himself, but I didn't see the results of that before the account disappeared.

Hmmmm.
