Yes, that's key!
I've also realized lately that there are precious few pop/rock/similar songs about (a) remembering in the moment, not the shelved past; (b) having romantic feelings for a person without being OTT gushy or bleeding out onto the floor for the sake of it; (c) true reassurance. ("Dreaming" may be encouraging aslant, but it is not reassuring, I think.) Curious whether anyone who happens to see this knows things I don't!

I've noticed especially (a) and marked down to rock & descendants having nostalgia baked into it/them as genre conventions.

It is true that it's easier to fill up a mix called "I Feel Like a Grown-up Now" than one called "Strength, When It Don't Come Easy."
