A 16th century poem on football as a metaphor for life. The rhetorical tactics of sports journalism: not new.
Not one one but two more translations of the Ronsard sonnet better known in English as one of Yeats's better poems.
Supposedly unable to get anyone to give him a commendatory squib for his semi-autobiographical literary satire Viaje al Parnaso ("Journey to Parnassus"), Cervantes asks his pen to write one. Whether the results are predictable depends on how much you know about Cervantes, but either way enjoyable.
"Thor's Epic," a retelling of The Avengers movie from Thor's POV, in iambic pentameter. I like how the writer makes the formal stiffness part of Thor's voice and manner. Worth the price of admission for the detail that Thor thinks of Bruce Banner as a berserker. (via)
