Oh, great. The Hayward fault just east of San Francisco has been overdue for a while, too, if not by quite that much.

There's a number of overdue faults out there. It's the sheer scale of the Cascadia Subduction that catches attention -- half the time, the entire 800 miles lets loose all at once. But anything over 5 in the immediate Bay Area is gonna hurt, ya.

And then there's the thing that happens sometimes when one set of faults triggers another--Mendocino not being so very far north of the Hayward fault. Oh well.... Agreed about that 800-mile aspect, well into sublime (mountains falling on narrator!Wordsworth) territory.
