OTOH, this one's an odd duck: "The Ancient Banner; or Brief Sketches of Persons and Scenes in the Early History of Friends,"* an anonymous poem of Quaker propaganda. It's self-consciously epic-in-style, though not length (~650 lines), with a focus on the New World -- perhaps not surprising, given the Philadelphia printer. From the insider's manner, I can only assume the intended audience is other Quakers, but it may be the author was misfiring at a general audience.
A profile of Edward Tufte, guru of infographics and information design. It sounds like he may be heading into the cranky old guy stage of guru-dom, but I still constantly refer to his books for they are Good and Useful and Right. (via)
