"Ground" is a mondegreen; it's a drinking song.

You can make it a convincing drinking song even as ground, though. "Round" makes more sense to me, though.

As in...not collapse after his drink.

(I prefer Whiskey You're the Devil...We tend to say "The Yankee likes his hot black coffee" around here a lot...)
