It is somewhat startling to realize that my reading comprehension is better in German than in Spanish. I've always thought of Spanish as my second, or at least sesquiunitary, language -- having at one point been halfway to fluent. Clearly, it's time to start watching telenovelas again. Any recommendations among the current crop on Telemundo and Univision?

When I visited my mother in Rwanda, at the stops on the way there and back in Nairobi and Tel Aviv I stayed at the Hilton because I was too poor to stay at the youth hostel. At the Hilton I could use my credit card, but the youth hostel wanted cash. I was in grad school and had no money, but I knew that as soon as I left grad school I'd get a good job.

The paper folding art is simply too good. I refuse to believe in it.

No! I was joking. I should have followed with winking smiley.

They are simploy so far beyond anything I can imagine someone doing by folding paper, that they seem impossible. How does one fold a line in a piece of paper that doesn't go all the way from edge to edge. And keep doing it in precise directions, angles, and lengths, to be able to create a complex picture? It's amazing stuff.

Creasing partway is possible, especially in thin paper. It's creasing partway to a sharp end that raises my eyebrows. I suspect a straight-edge is involved.
