Lovely linkage.

Thanks for pointing us in the direction of Krauka (http://www.krauka.dk/) and the various muppet renditions of classical music (I kept clicking after watching Beaker and the Swedish Chef). 8)

The pocket sundials are really, really cool & the fact that at least three of the set were identified as being shepherds' sundials completely turns my uninformed image (of the world of shepherds as being uninterested in time, or at least time in human-centric terms, rather than sun & season) on its head.

Thanks! I went to Krauka's MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/krauka1). The black and white video is just lovely, the images and music both. I tried downloading a couple songs (having already downloaded from their website (http://www.krauka.dk/cd_english.htm) what they allow, but you need a MySpace account for that.

YouTube has, after all these years, confirmed for me that The Muppets were brilliant.

I knew that, but YouTube provides extra confirmation.

Actually, I'm beginning to think that the tense is wrong. YouTube confirms that the Muppets are brilliant. I have a strong suspicion that the "Habanera" video and the other videos directly linked from that page are recent and official YouTube creations by the Jim Henson Company.

How can you be hearing The World of the Shining Prince (an excellent and very useful book, by the way, if you suddenly have to take your Warring States kappa story and make it a Heian kappa story and you want to confirm things like that women did play the biwa (p. 200))?

Are you listening to books on tape?

And I loved this (http://cache.wists.com/thumbnails/e/5f/e5fc60f7bb659d59b644bf263675f7bc-orig) pocket sundial best.

What a concept--somehow, very appealing: timepieces that must be made to take into account where you are. Somehow that seems much more holistic a way of approaching time measurement: when depends on where.
