Rather than go with the chip cliché, I'd use this as an opportunity to give the character a distinguishing trait in a food preference that might not be as commonly-quoted but would be understandable. Olives, say, or Pepperidge Farm goldfish.

In the other POV, I could -- her alien taste buds have already been established -- but this one's very much grounded in the mundane, in food preferences. At least his human half is.
