Thanks to a plurality's confirming my prejudices, I made the Orb Weaver. Before pictures, showing the paper's translucency and pattern:

The second picture shows the spiderweb pattern if you click through to the full size.
The folding itself took a couple days, with pauses for Life and to press the model flat every once in a while. The paper itself was interesting to work with, where by "interesting" I mean finicky. It takes creases almost too well, which means it doesn't like reversing folds -- not as bad as foil, but similar. Which meant all the closed wraps and unsinks were ... a challenge. The effect was like trying to fold extra-stiff onion-skin. Fortunately, all the places I ripped it are folded in out of sight.
As you can see:

Click through for the bigger picture. I'm pretty pleased with it myself. The photo doesn't really convey that the abdomen is translucent, with only one layer of paper there.
Now then -- I have one more marbled piece, similar to the griffin's, but more diagonally swirly and less pink. I think this calls for another poll.
