Rewatching Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, things makes a lot more sense if you've read the three previous novels in the Crane-Iron pentalogy, even in the heavily altered comic book adaptation -- including why Li Mu-bai is such a putz, and what's up with that Jade Fox lady. And why it tries to be Jen's story and fails.
