Meanwhile, from a review of The First Heroes:

In complete contrast to the rest of the contributions, we have Larry Hammer's epic poem, ‘The Myrmidons’, which takes as its basis the origins of them –- and their name (ants) –- as told by Ovid, but which overlooks one crucial aspect of formic biology. Hammer remedies this in a poem which is by turns serious and comic, and works wonderfully.
