Signal boost: Collaborators attempt to get representation for what ought to be have been an easy sell, a kick-ass apocalyptic young adult novel. One problem: a viewpoint character is gay. Go, read, and see why that this is a problem is a problem. Note that it's not even that publishers are rejecting or "straighten" books with gay characters -- it's agents also, so that editors who might be open to them aren't even seeing them. Systemic issues -- they affect the whole system.
