The New Madrid links are useful--and the writer's right, Californians do wonder how Missouri could possibly top our interlace of seismic zones. :) (Not only me.) The river, yeah.
My personal wondering is whether a Cascadian Subduction Zone or Juan de Fuca shift could provoke Rodgers/Hayward/Calaveras or even Imperial (Baja) into action. That might be enough to equal the economic and human toll of a significant New Madrid quake--not that one wants such competition.
