Possibly Emily of New Moon since that's perked my interest a little.
Emily of New Moon was one of the frequent re-reads of my childhood. I feel increasingly ambivalent about the two sequels, partly because of their handling of the romance plot. While I'm talking about Montgomery, The Blue Castle is completely awesome and I recommend it without reservations.
