First, a correction: there is a another Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Yuletide fic that's prose, not alliterative verse, which I hadn't initially noticed because it was tagged as general Arthurian mythos. Takes place after SGGK, depicting Gawain's return home in the Orkneys, and is I think the best of the three.

Second, one more Yuletide rec: J'ai Vû le Loup, set after the conclusion of Marie de France's "Bisclavret", which not only has excellent werewolfiness but bonus unicorn hunting and royal slashitude.

Third, some fun trivia: Shakespeare and Cervantes died on the same date, 23 April 1616, but not the same day -- England having been still on Julian calendar whereas Spain had long since gone Gregorian, making Shakespeare's death ten days after Cervantes's.

Fourth, my new favorite Japanese word: (kare wa) makasaretehoshii -- "I want (him) to be defeated," conjugated as spoken to someone who is not the speaker's superior. Clearly, a useful thing to be able to say.

Fifth, as for head colds, they are not pleasing to have. Bleagh. And grump.

Thank you for the fic links (regardless of whether I make it through both stories) and the Shakespeare/Cervantes trivia. Also, the fun Japanese. Sorry about the head cold; Ian has an awful one, also, ironically causing us to reschedule an ENT visit.
