The nightstand is too small for much--a lamp, the DSL unit, a flashlight in case of a killer quake during the night, and kid clutter (I regularly tote it to their areas but it accretes again).
On the other side of the bed, however, is a bookcase, which has all my ship books in it, plus chapbooks, most of which are probably collectors' items, not that my progeny will ever recognize them as such.
