Followup to the previous post

The next day, no progress was made on the Cat Elevator 2000, but work continued yesterday, including a lot of trial-and-error engineering before converting the chassis to the Cat Train 2000, using a small wooden wagon to pull it along the floor. The young scientists determined that the best way to keep Experimental Subject #1 (the mellow orange cat) inside was to give him skritches while riding, but found no way to induce Experimental Subject #2 (the fluffy grey cat) to stay seated while it's moving.

No work on it so far today, as they've been too busy with baking a cake -- both an experiment in an endothermic reaction and celebration of returning to the classroom Monday.

ETA: Lest you think that Captain Underpants is the only influence around here, Ivy & Bean are also big: over the past two weeks, Eaglet and D have also made a one-page newspaper covering local events, to be sold to neighbors for $1, and opened a local franchise of Camp Flaming Arrow.
