A partial answer at this time
21 December 2006 09:05 amIn this time zone at least, it's Yule -- the sun finally pauses its southward loop about an hour after sunset, making tonight Year's Long Night. In some other places, of course, the winter solstice is shifted by a day, or by six months. It's always amused me that a holiday marked by astronomic observation has so much local variation, but such is life on a sphere. Since here it is now, a good turning to all. May the coming year hold warmth for you and yours, if not too much of it, and the promise of more light ahead.
