Words, words, words, says Hamlet. Or in this case, words, words, music:

On the one hand, we have “Ode on the Death of a Favourite Cat, Drowned in a Tub of Gold Fishes” by Thomas Gray, from whence the phrase “all that glisters* is not gold.” On the other, we have the tub in question. You decide. (via)

A 90 second tour which ignores where we live- the Midlands- which is one of the biggest regions in the UK and has a huge range of dialects (and all of the ones mentioned are dialects not accents).

Also the Republic of Ireland is NOT part of Britain even though many Brits still seem to think it is!

And the piece forgets that most people in north Wales speak Welsh (we live in the Marches so even hear it on this side of the border and see bilingual labelling a lot) and many Scottish highlanders speak Gallic.

The Scot, being from the Lothians, speaks Scots and many of my ancestors on that border would have spoken Lalans, which still exists.
