Administrivia: I've turned on captchas for anonymous comments in an attempt to minimize comment spam, at least for now. Cleaning out 30 a day was getting too annoying.
Someone has stitched together photos by Curiosity to make a portrait of Curiosity. Awesome. (via)
An annotated episode list for Cosmos, with video links.
Stayin' Alive in the Wall, a Pink Floyd vs Bee Gees mashup with video. This works disturbingly well. (via) (If you need to cleanse your pallet after that, there's always the original 1969 video for David Bowie's "Space Oddity.")

I wish I could turn anon commenting off comm-wide but override that for specific posts.

(There are a lot of mashups where the only sane conclusion is that someone thought it was a good idea at the time. This fails to explain why these get released, however.)

huh, the other comment was marked as spam
That mashup works surprisingly well. I shouldn't be surprised that a mashup that sticks in my head sometimes, "Mashing Up That Hill," is also by Wax Audio (and has been given video). Dude has a whole bunch of these (http://www.waxaudio.com.au/video), including an alarmingly upbeat if straightforward "Careless Whispers" x "Rebel Yell."

Cosmos ♥ ♥ ♥
There were some books I knew I had to read my kids in order to feel like I'd passed on the things that were most important to me in life. I felt the same about showing them Cosmos. When I did that, I felt like I had done one of the most important things I could possibly do as a parent.

And yes, about the book. I still have my copy -- it was one of my keep-without-the-possibility-of-negotiation volumes during this summer's Great Culling.
