We've so far managed to raise a toddler to three thinking that Mickey and Minnie Mouse are the same character, named Mickey, who happens to sometimes dress like a boy and sometimes like a girl.
Said toddler currently prefers Mickey's femme form.

And then, if she's like my daughter, who wore sensible overalls and the like to age four, and played happily with toys that were gender unspecific (tending toward those marketed for boys: her black low riding "Kitt" car, and Mario Brothers), then the first time she sees a horrible red satin flouncy, frilly dress that makes one think of really cheap dives, she will go into hormonal frenzy, kicking and screaming, "I want that!"
