I know, I know -- I owe you several posts, including Uta Koi commentary and comments on some books I've been working through. But I just lost a week to rereading the Circle of Magic books. So have a pome instead.

11. Tài - Peace

Beneath the bluff the placid sky is resting
within the still lake, watched by the reflections

of pines aligned atop the ridge-line cresting
above the shore, while over all a vision

of sun that rounds its circuit of protections
through the day's light, through blue-on-brown division.

*

Peace is great within these valley walls.
In early-budding willows amid the reeds

two warblers greet the world with loving calls,
a thrush broods silent in its nested cup.

Patched snow, the last of winter's rags, recedes
and in thawed ground, a grass blade pushes up.

I hardly like to comment, in case I break the stillness... but that's beautiful. Thank you.
