Two come to mind, both book-length jobs I'm still working through: The Adventures of Johnny Newcome in the Navy by John Mitford and The Shipwreck by William Falconer. The actual wreck section of the latter is especially nice.
It could indeed happen that his former organization will learn he survived and come back to finish the job. This is possible because he's broken cover by taking on a local boy as a martial arts disciple. If it does, I expect some sort of body count.
