Department of the slightly odd

There's a restaurant in Reykjavik that's supposedly Mexican. It is, though, more of a Danish interpretation of Mexican. Enchiladas should not be crunchy, nor should they be filled with nacho cheese sauce.

Tasty, but not really what's advertised.

There are a couple of Mexican restaurants in Ohio like that. The names of the dishes are right, but the food that accompanies the name is--not.

I had weird mexican food in the midwest! Moral: only trust it at our end of the continent.

Did I ever tell you about pizza in Turkey?

No matter how much I like pickles, they should *not* appear on a pizza.

Why would you be trying to eat Mexican food in Iceland anyway? Go for the herring!

I once went to a Mexican restaurant ... in Japan ... with a Dutchman. The Dutchman's description of what he was expecting versus what he got was fun.

I had a tragic encounter with refried baked beans in a Boston "Mexican" restaurant years ago.

Sounds like a "mexican food" place I went to in upstate New York.

The Italian and Chinese restaurants I went to in Bergen, Norway, were very odd, too.

I actually had sushi in Florence, Italy. It was appropriately and expectedly AWFUL.
